SyncFolders Plus costs $60 per licence and you need one SyncFolders Plus licence for each GoldSync site, totalled across all sites. SyncFolders Plus builds up a list of GoldSync sites across all sites as it runs so please make sure you order the correct number.
For example for a simple sync configuration with one central site and 5 remote laptops, at least five Sync Folder Plus licenses should be purchased. SyncFolders Plus checks this when it starts.
For a more complex configuration similar rules apply. For example a system with a central site with 4 remote laptops and one remote sub-site and with the remote sub-site having 3 remote laptops syncing to it requires 4 +1 +1 +4 licences. In summary it is just the number of sites defined in the GoldSync servers across all sites. (Note that in this example the central to sub-site link actually uses up two licences as there is a GoldSync Administration Center entry at each end).
The purpose of
SyncFolders Plus is to extend the capability of GoldMine’s
remote synchronization function, by providing a method of
matching folder structures between the main GoldMine server and
all remote users.
Without SyncFolders Plus, GoldMine handles synchronized documents
by putting them all into a single location (TmpLinks). This produces
the risk that if two users have created a document of the same name,
that one can be overwritten with the other. There is also the chance
that after synchronisation, a link created to a document within
a contact record could point to a different document, which happens
to have the same name.
SyncFolders Plus overcomes both of these possibilities by ensuring
that the folder structure containing linked documents is the same
for all system users.
