How do I transfer a single address using ListGrabber Standard?

To process single address using ListGrabber Standard go to the Options - Transfer Setup. Select the Application that you want to transfer the address to and click on the 'Show on ToolBar' button. Now select the address that you want to transfer and click on the destination application icon in the tool bar. The parse results box comes up and addresses are directly transferred to the Destination application.

You can transfer lists directly to the contact manager. Select the list to be transferred and click on the Destination Application icon after enabling it in the toolbar.

Problems related to parsing & transferring to the ListGrabber Standard grid

Can I check for duplicates in the Grid?

Yes, ListGrabber helps you to check and delete duplicate records present in the ListGrabber Grid. Duplicate records can be detected based on any combination. By default, options available are - Name, Company, E-mail address and Zip. Name, Company and E-mail Address is selected by default. Click on the Dup Check icon in the ListGrabber Grid to identify the duplicates. The duplicates are shown in blue, click the Delete Selected icon to delete the duplicate Contact(s) from the ListGrabber Grid.

To check duplicates for other combination
(For Example: To check for duplicates based on phone number)

Step 1: After transferring contacts to the ListGrabber Grid, right click on Zip column header and select Unknown options.

Step 2: Similarly right click Phone column header and select Zip.

Step 3: Click on Settings in the ListGrabber tool bar and select Options

Step 4: ListGrabber Options dialog box is displayed. Click Transfer Setup button under Options.

Step 5: On Select fields to check duplicates in ListGrabber Grid area, select Zip option. Select or clear other options based on combination required.

Step 6: Click OK button.

Step 7: Click on Dup Check icon in ListGrabber Grid to check for duplicates. Similarly check for duplicates for any combination / criteria.

After processing, can I change the column heading in the grid?

Yes, you can definitely change the column heading in the grid in order to transfer to the supported fields in the contact manager First, select the application you want to transfer to and click on the destination drop down list box on the ListGrabber grid. Now, right click on the column heading you want to change. Then you will see a menu appears with all the fields available in the destination application. Select the heading you wish to transfer to the Contact Manager and do a transfer. The addresses are transferred respectively to the selected field of destination.

What are the various conditions to extract addresses accurately using ListGrabber Standard?

ListGrabber will transfer addresses accurately, if

  • The address should be in US , UK or Canadian format. Australian and New Zealand formats are also recognized but limited to few websites.

  • The list consists of homogeneous addresses.

  • The appropriate option available in ListGrabber for parsing different type of lists are selected by the user.

Can I edit processed addresses before transferring them to my contact manager?

These lines may be present in the email but not in the template or the lines could be present in the template but not marked as ignore text in the template. Selecting the lines and marking them as ignore text can solve this. The other solution is to first select each field and in Properties, enter Number of lines / Number of characters, so that only the text is picked up and not the line.

Sometimes the address information does not go in the correct fields after parsing. Why does this happen?

This may happen for any one of the following reasons:

  • The addresses may not be US , UK or Canadian format.
  • There may be unwanted lines in your address list.
  • The list may contain different types of addresses.
  • The list may contain some non-address information.

Why does some information go to the unknown column? How to deal with this?

If the field is currently not available in the destination application, then it may go to the unknown column. Or the list may contain non-address information like comments or date of birth. This kind of information will go to the unknown column in the spreadsheet view and will not get transferred to the contact manager. To transfer data in unknown columns, right click on the column heading and select an available field from the context menu and transfer.

Transferring from the ListGrabber Standard grid to the destination application

What if I am using a contact manager or database other than ACT!, GoldMine® , Outlook®, Maximizer, TOP PRODUCER, AdvantageXi? How do I transfer my list to any other application?

ListGrabber Standard has an export utility to export data to CSV, Tab format so that then you can import it into your application. To export, select the Export To... option from the File menu. Now you can export to a comma separated (.CSV) format. The simple wizard will guide you through. Its simple select the application and click on Next. Select a file name and Click Export. You can later import this file into your database application / Contact Manager / CRM.

How do I transfer addresses to my contact manager?

Simply select the contact manager from the drop down list box on the ListGrabber grid and click on the transfer button.

Can I check for duplicates while transferring to the contact manager?

ListGrabber Standard allows checking for duplicates both at the grid and while transferring to the Contact Manager. The user can set for checking duplicates at Options | Duplicate setup from the Toolbar Settings menu or from the Grid "options" button. Different combinations of the following indices can be used for checking duplicates Name, Company, E-mail, Zip and Phone.

On detecting a duplicate record in the contact manager the user can set ListGrabber Standard to do one of any of these transfers- Add as new, Update existing contact, Warn if contact exists, Cancel transfer

Can I edit parsed addresses before transferring them to my contact manager?

Yes, you can. ListGrabber Standard allows you to edit addresses before transferring them to your contact manager. Just double click on the record you want to edit or select the record and right click to access the short-cut menu.

I am unable to transfer addresses to Sub-folders in Outlook? Why?

This feature is not supported now. The addresses will get transferred to Contact folder but not the sub-folders.

Can I transfer selected records from the Grid to my contact manager?

Yes, this is possible. You can highlight the selected rows you want to transfer by clicking the 'Transfer selected' button on the ListGrabber Grid toolbar.

Export to ASCII format

How do I export parsed addresses from the ListGrabber Standard grid in ASCII file format?

Use ListGrabber Standard to export data to ASCII format, so that you can import it into your application. After parsing to the grid, select Data Export as the destination. Click on "Transfer All" to export all the records and "Transfer Selected" to export selected records. You can change the File location, File format and other export related settings from Options - Transfer setup.

How do I transfer address lists to other applications that are not supported by ListGrabber Standard?

eGrabber constantly updates the list of address books supported. If your application is not listed, export the data into a csv file and then import into your contact manager.
