2005 (Version 2005-Y for GoldBox-SQL and GoldBox-5)
ENHANCED: History / Email Archive. Speed
improvement (significant).
ENHANCED: Detail Expander (GoldBox Views). Posting
of New and Modified Details is now handled directly by the View, instead of from
the Batch Processor as an Import/Update.
November 9, 2005 (Version 2005-X
for GoldBox-SQL and GoldBox-5)
ENHANCED: Virtual Org Chart generator. At GoldBox
Views wizard, this is now a dedicated View option. The major new feature
is the ability to POST the generated Charts (up to 4 levels) into GoldMine's Org
Chart structure. The current Org Chart Creator is kept in GoldBox for
backward compatibility. It is recommended that you use this new method for
auto-generating GoldMine Organization Charts. Major advantage, besides
allowing up to 4 levels: You can PREVIEW the generated Charts before sending
anything into GoldMine.
October 29, 2005 (Version 2005-U
for GoldBox-SQL and GoldBox-5)
Note: The extra
translation capability that was briefly put into the SmoothComp() function has
now been broken out into a NEW function called GXTranslate(). This new
function is intended to be used instead of the older GetCustom() function.
See below.
ENHANCED: Project Setup. You can now pre-assemble
items for Transfer, which are saved to a table with the Project. This is a
tremendous timesaver at the Transfer Wizard, and allows easier creation of
GoldBox Packaged Solutions.
ENHANCED: Path Changer. When you MOVE a set of
Linked Documents from one Folder to another, GoldBox will now check to see if
the Link is an Email Attachment. The changed Folder is then written into
the Email Message in the MAILBOX table.
ENHANCED: InGroup() Function. Now handles PUBLIC
Groups, as in: InGroup("PUBLIC", "GROUP NAME ABC").
ADDED: GXTranslate() Function. This supersedes
GetCustom() as the general Field Translator. It is easier to setup,
operates faster, and allows an option for multi-word Translation (for Company
and Address fields, as examples). NOTE: GetCustom() will remain in GoldBox
for backward compatibility, but it is recommended that you use GXTranslate() for
general Field Translations.
ADDED: MarkedAsDupe() Function. Allows you to
run a Count Mode Merge-Purge, use CRM Migrator to archive the targeted Dupes,
and then run your Batch Mode Merge-Purge. Archived data can be opened in
the special Viewer at the {File} menu.
ENHANCED: Global Selector. Q-file Scripts are now
listed. They can be open and run, just as with Saved
Setups.
ENHANCED: Referral Import (GXSQL ONLY). You can now include a Query
fragment when the Parent Main Contact is sought. For the scenario where
the linking field between Parent and Child Main Contacts is held in the same
field, but ANOTHER field categorizes Record Type.
FIXED: Wizards. On some systems, wizard
descriptive text may have appeared grayed out.
OPTIMIZED: Saved Setups table. 37 large fields
(formerly used by early versions of GoldBox Views) will be REMOVED when you
apply the update. This reduces the size of each Setup record from 15K down
to 7K.

ENHANCED: Batch Processor. Progress Indicator added
to TITLE of window, useful when Windows XP 'washes out' the progress
display.
ENHANCED: GoldBox Views. You can now create
ON-THE-FLY Lookup Lists for data entry. Allows you to query anything to
populate the Lookup List, add blanks between entries, add comments within the
list, display current GoldMine record field values as lookup entries,
more.
ENHANCED: RealDate() Function. Passing a true Date
can now return a 'legalese' date, such as:
18th day of October,
2005.
October 7, 2005 (Version 2005-R
for GoldBox-SQL and GoldBox-5)
ENHANCED: GoldBox-SQL. It is no longer necessary to
add an extra index to the CONTTLOG table to speed sync record retrieval for
CONTACT2. GoldBox-SQL is now able to use GoldMine's default index for this
purpose.
Minor enhancement to
VLink2dBase() - allows definition of path and dBase Table with
Expression.
Clean record
retrieval for Main Contacts and Details in the GoldBox-SQL Import/Update.
Single-quotes within a Search value are now transparently handled, without
error.

ENHANCED: Single Table Dedupe (GoldMine SQL). You can now
choose to retain the NEWEST GoldMine record as the
Survivor.
ENHANCED: History/Email Archive. You can now choose
to NOT delete the data from GoldMine when the actual Archive is
run.
OPTIMIZED MULTI-USER
CODE: In GoldBox Batch
Processor, and GoldBox Views, especially SEAT launching.
DOCUMENTED: A 'Bare Bones' Linked Document Path Replace if
you have the BASIC Edition, found at the TIPS menu.
ENHANCED: Expression Builder. A quick HOT LIST
dropdown now appears at the top right, to allow selection of common expression
elements - while allowing an independent listing in the Functions
dropdown.
ENHANCED: GoldBox Views. For Lookups, the tilde
character now recognized as an Expression Result (just as in GoldMine).
Option to break the 39-character limit by using GX_Long_Expression() for
an expression of virtually any length. Small splash screens added to
Views, indicating program is loading. At Setup, Properties Screen, you can
now Right-Click at the LKUP CODE button for quick selection of other Lookup
options.

OVERHAULED: GoldBox-SQL code, especially Batch Processor.
If you have been recently getting errors such as 'SQL Property not set',
please download and apply this update. Newer error-trapping identified
some hidden bugs in several operations, which have been
fixed.

ENHANCED: GoldBox Views. Ability to PhotoCopy a
View record. General code made more efficient, Views may load a bit

CONVERTED: Oppty/Project TABs Import. This import
now conforms to the GXI Technology standard for Import/Update. It also
allows UPDATE to existing Tab records under Main Opportunities and Projects
(based on RECID of Tab record).
ENHANCED: RECID-based Deletions, found at Import/Update.
Now includes Opportunities and Projects and their Tabs, History and all
Supplemental types.

You can now increase the WIDTH of your Custom Graphic, for more freedom in

ADDED: GoldBox Project. Summary record to
organize multiple GoldBox operations and Views for a specific purpose or client.
Accessible from the Setup / Global Selector. Project Codes for
GoldBox operations and Views can be directly selected, at the New Setup wizard,
and retroactively at the Global Selector.
ENHANCED: GoldBox ViewForms. You can now force an
Auto-Print of a translated ViewForm; Auto-Launch of a ViewForm Merge can now be
run ONCE only, regardless of how many records are pulled by the View.
Ideal for basic, multi-line, automated Reports. See F1 Help panel
for GoldBox ViewForms.
ADDED: Plug-in Group Membership. At
Import/Update of Main Contacts, you can now plug-in Group Membership just as you
can History, Details, etc. Up to 10 Groups per Setup. Please see the
F1 Help panel entitled: Plug-In: GROUP MEMBER. For both the BASIC and
PROFESSIONAL Editions.
ADDED: CVal() Function. Same as Val(), except
that the Character value to be converted to Numeric is first stripped of
everything but numbers, decimals, plus and minus signs. Can be used upon
Character fields where commas are being used, or dollar signs, extra spaces,
etc.

ENHANCED: Email Bounce Router. Email Messages
larger than 32K were causing the program to hang during processing.
GoldBox now auto-detects the Email size and samples just the first 30K for
analysis.
ENHANCED: DNCscan() functionality. The DNC Parser
now performs a level of compression on Do-Not-Call phone numbers, to improve
speed when scanning.
IMPROVED: Import Field Mapping
screen.
MOVED: GoldBox Event Log. Many GoldBox users are
unaware that a Log Entry is made for each successful run of a batch operation.
The option to view this log was taken off of the {File} menu, and given
its own Top Level Menu option called {Log}.
- You can now add RADIO BUTTONS to any
Data Entry View, including GoldMine data
- Type 'B' View can now use indexed
field other than ACCOUNTNO to 'push' GoldMine
- Views that are 'pushed' by another
View auto-refresh during record navigation
- Up to 3 VLinkByQuery() calls can be
embedded in any View or Merge Field ViewForm

ENHANCED: Import / Update. When updating, you can
choose to LOG
Field Changes for those that
received new values. The Log Entry tracks the Prior field values as an
audit trail. This Log Entry is transparently generated in the GXI table
(GX_UPLOG as Memo field), and is available for ALL updates - such as GoldMine
Tab records and non-GoldMine tables. If you are updating Main Contacts, at
the Mapping Template you can optionally PLUG-IN a special entry
called:
HISTORY as LOGGED FIELD
CHANGES
ENHANCED: For DNC Phone Scrub, the
function DNCscan() can be used in any
operation, such as Import/Update, Global Replace, Group Build, Export, GoldBox
View, etc. Relies on a scan of Phone # Search Blocks - which is a new way
to parse the FTC's Do-Not-Call phone lists in GoldBox. Go to File, highlight DNC
Search Blocks Table and press F1 for Help.
ENHANCED: Links Path / File Changer. When MOVING Disk Files to a new Folder, you can define the
Folder with an Expression; GoldBox created the Folder if it does not exist; You
can also replace the Document Description for MOVED
Links.
ENHANCED: QBE Funnel Scan for GoldBox Views. Logic
reworked so that Funnel Scan accurately reflects NOT logic for your scans into
Child records. An example of a blue SQL Query when Funnel Scanning GoldMine Details
might be:

ADJUSTED: LookupINI() Function. GoldBox will now scroll the
entire Field section to parse all Lookup= entries. Previously, GoldBox was
expecting them all at the TOP of the Field section, and was missing Lookup
expressions interspersed throughout the section.
ENHANCED:GoldBox Interface.
Improvements made to Global Selector, Expression Builder,
New Setups, VLinkByQuery() Assembler, GoldBox View Chalkboard and ALL Life Ring
output.

ENHANCED: GoldBox Views:
- When mapping a Slot for Edit Mode, the
displayed List now attempts to show the usage of every field being pulled by
your SQL Query. Especially useful for complex View
Setups.
- Chalkboard now displays QBE Source
fields that are BOUND in red/white, and Invisible fields in
white/black.
- For Query-by-Entry: At the blue Result View, a new option appears in the
dropdown, entitled: QBE Trace Rpt. This displays the assembled SQL Query
for each time the user clicks the Display RESULT button. Ideal for
reference while performing multiple scans - especially Funnel
Scans.
- Active INDEX allowed for Edit Mode, at
Extended Options.
- Cosmetic changes to the Views: Options
List in BOLD, new icon for GRID, View SIZER easier to
read.
- Fixed bug: Sort the Result not
displaying in Options List for all Views. Sort is now available for Edit
Mode as well as Display Mode.

ENHANCED: GoldBox Views:
- Views are 'smarter' about whether they
are already open - Concurrent Access message has been
eliminated.
- At QBE Source: You can right-click the
Connector box to insert Codes into your Scan Entry.
- AnyChanges variable added to Views. For Edit Mode,
allows you to gray out the POST icon on View load, then enable it when you Add
or Edit any View record.
- Adding a NEW Record no longer prompts
to acknowledge - the record is added immediately.
- By using the code LOOKUPLIST/2, for
example, at the Extended Option for {Custom PROMPT for POST / RUN and ADD}, you
can cause any Lookup List to immediately display when the user adds a NEW
Record. The number following the slash is the Slot # of the mapped
field.
- Pinpoint View record control via
conditional Item Toggles for Toolbar buttons and fields. On-the-fly
Disable, Read-Only and Clear-Out based on accessing User Names, Field Values,
etc. Implemented with VUItemOut(), SlotRead() and SlotClear(). See

ENHANCED: GoldBox Views (Jan 15):
- Funnel Scanning of a Child Table, such
as Details, for QBE. Each scan of a different Detail Type, for example,
funnels the Result Set to those Main Contacts having
all.
- Conditional READ-ONLY Record
evaluation for all Data Entry Views. Found at Extended Options. As a
user accesses a record that meets the Condtion, the record is readable, but
cannot be modified.
- Level-4 (purple) View can act as Push
Source for other Views, and can act as Type A Result based on another View as
Push Source. Previously, Level-4 Views were Type-A for GoldMine data
only.

ADDED: Independent Function Evaluator at Expression
Builder. As you highlight a Function in the list, most will display an
example above the Expression prompt. Click the ? button for an instant
result. Ideal as a preview of what can be expected from the more than 200
functions available in the GoldBox product line.
ENHANCED: Import Field Mapping screen. Screen is
smarter, more intuitive, easier to read. New features include a scrollable
Field / Expression Result window, Description MODIFY button, a REVIEW MATCH
Expression button and better management of Write-back
fields.
ENHANCED: Tab Plug-in for Main Contact Import/Update.
Previously, you could plug-in on NEW Main Contacts, or both NEW and
MATCHED. You can now designate a plug-in to occur on MATCHED Main Contacts
only.
IMPROVED: Convert Table to dBase screen.
ENHANCED: Query-by-Entry for GoldBox Views. A
single button called Display RESULT replaces the previous 2 buttons called Open
and Refresh. GoldBox auto-determines whether the Result should be
refreshed or newly opened. Fixed: User can designate 'Begins With' on an
entry by preceding it with a less-than sign, or 'Ends With' on an entry by
preceding with a greater-than sign.
ENHANCED: GoldBox Views Data Entry. You can now
designate a Data Entry field as LOOKUP only. The user can select from a
Lookup option, but cannot directly enter the field. Ideal for Dates stored
in Character fields (such as Details), selecting multiple values from a Products
table, etc.
